What does it mean when you see Premier Cru or Grand Cru on a Champagne label? That’s the question Wine Spectator asked, and for an answer they went to Duval-Leroy Chef de Cave Sandrine Logette-Jardin.
In conversation with Spectator editor Alison Napjus, Logette-Jardin explains the distinction, exploring the history, exposition and geology of the Champagne region. She and Napjus also taste the Duval-Leroy Premier Cru Brut NV and Duval-Leroy Grand Cru ‘Blanc de Blancs’ 2006, discuss their attributes, and offer insight on food pairings.
