“Compared to the 2000, the 1996 Femme offers a touch more vibrancy and purity in a similarly rich, layered, complex style. Stone fruits, beautiful minerality, hints of charcoal,  as well as a touch of brioche and nuttiness, all flow to a textured, balanced, beautifully long and layered Champagne that’s drinking brilliantly today.”

“The 2000 Femme comes from all grand cru sites and is 95% Chardonnay and 5% Pinot Noir. It offers a ripe, rounded, impressively layered and concentrated profile that’s very much in the style of the 2000 vintage. Stone fruits, brioche, charcoal, and spice characteristics give way to a full, rich, and layered Champagne that has a vibrant mousse and a clean finish. It’s drinking beautifully today.”

“The NV Rosé Prestige Premier Cru offers a salmon/amber color as well as impressive notes of orange blossoms, dried strawberries, burnt toast, and hints of minerality. Made in a medium-bodied, concentrated, yet elegant style, it has a fine crisp mousse, and terrific length. It’s an impressive rosé that should evolve gracefully. ”

“Tasted for the third time now, the 2006 Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Millésime Prestige offers a delicious and matured bouquet of ripe fruits, cream, caramel, and brioche flavors.”

“It is pure, fresh, and mineral on the palate, highly elegant, and finessed but also intense, very well structured, and provided with a perfect roundness in the long, clear and cleansing, but also complex finish. This is by far, the best lot I have tasted so far; it’s simply a gorgeous Champagne that I’d love to have with a never-ending Sunday morning brunch.”

Duval-Leroy Rosé Prestige Brut Champagne Premier Cru NV | 92 points

“The NV Rosé Prestige Brut Premier Cru is a generous and well-structured blend of Pinot Noir (90%, from Vertus, the Marne Valley and the Montagne de Reims) and Chardonnay (Côtes des Blancs) that shows a very nice, medium-intense salmon color. The wine opens with a delicately aromatic but also spicy-flavored nose of red fruits (raspberries, cherries) and reveals a delicate and fresh yet intense, round and elegant palate with a very fine mousse and a good, cleansing finish. There are juniper flavors in the long finish.”

“This mouthwatering Champagne presents a tightly meshed mix of blackberry coulis, lemon meringue pie and candied ginger flavors on a finely detailed mousse, underscored by a rich skein of ground spice that unwinds and lingers on the racy finish. Drink now through 2022.” – Alison Napjus
